External Fertilization
When eggs and sperm are released into the environment and the sperm swim to the egg

The joining of the sperm and the egg
Internal Fertilization
Sperm are placed in the female body and swim through tubes to find egg, requires mating (intercourse)
Hermaphrodite
An organism that has both female and male reproductive systems in one body
Ex. slugs, corals, worms
Sexual Dimorphism
When males and females of the same species look different from each other
Asexual Reproduction
Reproduction involving only one parent
Extinct
The state of one kind of organism when it no longer exists; describes a species of which every member has died

Swelling in certain plants and animals that develop into a new individual f the same kind

An organism genetically identical to its parent

The method of reproduction which the parent divides to make two or more organisms of the same kind

The strand like material controlling all of the cell’s activities; usually found in the nucleus of the cell
Egg
The female reproductive cell
Sperm
The male reproductive cell
