What is OVULATION?
When does it happen?
What is ovulation?
This is when an egg is released from an ovary
When does it happen?
Around day 14 of the menstrual cycle
What is COPULATION?
This is when millions of sperm are released into the vagina from the penis during intercourse
What is FERTILISATION?
This is when the NUCLEUS of the SPERM and EGG join together
What is formed when the nucleus of the sperm and egg join together in fertilisation?
A Zygote
When does cell division happen?
24 HOURS after FERTILISATION - the fertilised egg divides into 2
How many cells have the fertilised egg divided into by 4 days after?
What is it called now?
32 Cells
It is called an embryo
What is an embryo?
Ball of cells made from fertilised egg
What is Implantation?
This is when the EMBRYO starts to implant itself into the WALL OF THE UTERUS and the PLACENTA begins to develop
When does Implantation occur?
Around 1 week after fertilisation
