A
  • Induces a negative feedback pathway on the hypothalamus to reduce GnRH secretions
  • This reduces LH and FSH levels to:
    • Prevent ovulation
    • Thicken cervical mucous
    • Reduce fallopian tube motility
    • Cause an unreactive endometrium

    • Breast tenderness

  • Rare:
    • Cholestatic jaundice
    • Decreased libido
    • Reversible ovarian cysts
