What is representative democracy?
A
A form of democracy where the electorate select political representatives who make informed political decisions on their behalf.

Give a current example of representative democracy?
A
The UK
- citizens within the UK vote for
an MP they want to represent their constituency in parliament (official area of a country that elects someone to represent it in parliament)
- this voting occurs every five years

- The US
- the federal government of the US is a representative democracy as the people elect the president, members of the house representatives and the members of senate
- within each state in the US citizens elect their governors and legislators.
