Representation
is how people or groups are shown in media and society.
Ideology (General Defination)
Is a group of ideas and beliefs that influence how people think and act.

Is the ideas and beliefs that affect how stories are made and how people are shown.
Hegemony
Is when one group has more power and influences others to accept its ideas as normal.
Discourse
is how people talk or write about a topic. It includes the words and ideas used to discuss that topic.
Explicit
Means something that is clear and easy to understand, with no hidden meanings.
Implicit
Means something that is suggested or understood without being directly stated.
Giddens (1991) - identity
Is identity of how people see themselves and connect with the world. It changes based on choices and experiences.
Stuart Hall (1997) Representation Theory
says that media shapes how we understand the world. It shows that how we represent people and ideas can influence our thoughts about them.

Is a word, image, or symbol that represents or stands for an idea or concept.
Media Literacy
Is knowing how to read, understand, and create media like videos, articles, and ads.
Representation of Self
Is how a person shows their identity and beliefs through their words, actions, and choices in different situations.
Censorship
Is blocking or removing information that is considered inappropriate or harmful.
Narrative
Is the way a story is told, including the sequence of events and the perspective used to present it.
Intersectionality
Is the idea that different parts of a person’s identity, like race and gender, work together to shape their experiences.
