Describe the circulatory system in the kidney
A
2 capillary beds.
A high pressure system in the glomerulus to help with filtration
A low pressure system in the perituble that helps with reabsorption

- Plasma filtration
- Formation of urine (filtration, selective reabsorption, secretion)
- Removal of waste in urine
- Reabsorption of important material and substances

What is the gross structure of the kidney?
A
Capsule - outer fibrous part surrounding the kidney
Cortex - reddish-brown layer of tissue below the capsule surrounding the pyramids
Renal medulla (pyramids) - pale, conical shaped, striated structure. Pointed end called papilla
