Renal Pathology Flashcards
Acute glomerulonephritis
Inflammation of glomerulus
Hematuria, proteinuria, WBCs, and casts
Acute interstitial nephritis
Inflammation of renal interstitium, may be allergic reaction to medicine
Hematuria, proteinuria, WBCs (eos), WBC casts
Nephrotic syndrome
Caused by renal blood pressure irregularities
Proteinuria, hematuria, oval fat bodies, renal tubular epithelial cells, and casts
Chronic glomerulonephritis
Long-term progressive loss of renal function
Hematuria, proteinuria, glucosuria, casts
Acute pyelonephritis
Infection of renal tubules caused by UTI
Hematuria, proteinuria, WBCs, bacteria, casts
Chronic pyelonephritis
Chronic infection of tubules and interstitial tissue, can lead to renal failure
Hematuria, proteinuria, WBCs, bacteria, casts
Renal failure
Tubular necrosis caused by nephrotoxic agents or other diseases
Failure of kidneys to filter blood
