They were the wealthiest and most powerful bankers in Europe who were important for investing a lot into art.
Who was Donatello, and why was he well known?
He was the first great sculptor of the Renaissance, and was well known for his sculpture, “David”.
Who was Michelangelo, and why was he well known?
He was one of the most famous Renaissance artists who made a lot of sculptures and paintings that showed a lot of… “details of the human body” that expressed a lot of emotion.
Who was Leonardo Da Vinci, and why was he well known?
He was a true Renaissance Man. A painter, sculptor, and inventor. Some of his well known paintings are the “Last Supper,” and “Mona Lisa”.
Who was Raphael, and why was he well known?
The man who “perfected” Renaissance painting by improving perspective and realism by studying Michelangelo and Leonardo. He was the Pope’s favorite painter. His greatest painting was the “School of Athens” which blended a lot of people from Greece and Rome.
Who was William Shakespeare, and why was he well known?
A famous poet who wrote a lot of poems and plays, like “Romeo and Juliet”
Who was Filippo Brunellschi, and why was he well know?
He was Florence’s greatest Architect who studied the Roman Pantheon when he build the Cuppolo of Maria del Fiore cathedral in Florence. The domes he made really inspired modern building designs.
Where did the Northern Renaissance start?
It started in the North.
What was the French Renaissance known for?
It was known for their unique architecture.
What was the English Renaissance known for?
It was known for its literature, especially with William Shakespeare.
What was the Netherlands Renaissance known for?
It was known for its amazing realism in art.
