Medici Family
The Medici Family was the most wealthiest and powerful bankers in all of Europe. They used the wealth to commission art for themselves and to beautify Florence. They also used their money to build a domed cathedral for Florence.
Donatello
Donatello was the first great sculpture of the Renaissance. He received the classical (Greek-Roman) Style of sculpture that were realistic & viewed from all sides. His first large free-standing human sculpture was “David”
Michelangelo
Michelangelo was a painter, sculpture, architect, & poet. His sculptures showed realism, personality, and emotion. His sculptures “Pieta & David” are considered masterpieces.
Leonardo Da Vinci
Leonardo Da Vinci was a true Renaissance man. He was a painter & sculpture whose art was known for incredible realism & emotion. He was also a inventor & scientist whose sketches reveal observations about human anatomy & new engineering technology. His “Last Supper” shows Jesus’ last meeting with the 12 apostles before the crucifixion. His greatest masterpiece was the “Mona Lisa”.
Raphael
Raphael “perfected” painting and Improved by studying off his brothers. He became the favorite painter of the pope because of his amazing detailed painting showing a combinations of famous Greeks & Romans a long with the Renaissance people. His greatest painting was “School Of Athens”
Filippo Brunelleschi
Filippo Brunelleschi was Florence’s greatest architect. He studied the Roman Patheon when he built the Cuppolo of Maria Del Fiore Cathedral in Florence. The dome inspired modern building designs for him.
