Mode/modal
A
Term used to describe music based on a mode, a scale used before major and minor keys were developed. A mode is a pattern of notes that composers used to create melodies

Plainchant
A
Unaccompanied melody set to words of the Roman Catholic liturgy. They are modal and have no regular metre. Halo theme is a plainchant. Always in Latin.

A
Sacred piece of music sung in Latin. Usually polyphonic and imitative.

Kyrie eleison - god have mercy Gloria - glory to god in the highest Credo - I believe in one god Sanctus and Benedictus - “holy, holy” and “blessed is he” Agnus Dei - lamb of god

Perfect - is chords V - I. Sounds finished
Plagal - chords IV - I. Ends sounding like amen
