It means rebirth.

This is when sailors relied on Landmarks and coastlines to find their way back.

It was used to enable iron to be produced in large quantities, which in return increased industrial activity.
What is the difference between the ships before and after the renaissance?
Before renaissance the ships used Terrestrial navigation, which prevented the ship from going to far out at sea. Where as the ships after the renaissance used Celestial navigation, this allowed the ships to go as far as they wanted. They no longer had to stay close to land.

This was used to determine the depths of the water/ how deep the water was.
What is Celestial navigation?
This is where the Astrolabe and the Quadrate used the height of the noonday sun during the day and the north star during the night to find their way.

Spain sponsored Columbus and England/the English turned him down

This was used to determine the speed of the boat.
Who is Vasco Da Gama and what was he known for?
He was a Portuguese explorer and the first European to reach India by sea. He was known for navigations.
What is the Astrolabe used for and what other instrument was used for the same reason?
this was used to determine latitude by measuring the sun’s noon altitude at day and the north star at night. Also the quadrant is used for the same thing.
Who was Leonardo da Vinci and what was he known for?
Leonardo da Vinci was an artist and engineer who is best known for his paintings ( the Mona Lisa/La Graconda)
What is the printing press used for?
this was made so that books could be printed much more cheaply
Who was Michelangelo Buonarrotti and what was he known for?
was an Italian sculptor, painter, architect and poet of the High Renaissance and he was best known for his his sculpture( of David or of La Pieta)
