what is remixing?
a reinterpretation of the original, using the original elements
DEF: dub
genre of electronic music that grew out of reggae in the 1960s, consisting predominantly of instrumental remixes of existing recordings by manipulating and reshaping the song, usually through the removal of vocals, emphasis of the rhythm section (the stripped-down drum-and-bass track is sometimes referred to as a riddim), applying fx (ie. verb, echo) and the occasional dubbing of vocal or instrumental snippets from the original version or other works. It was an early form of popular electronic music.

changing a song quite dramatically so it doesn’t stay nearly as true to the original song as the traditional remixes that generally make a song for the dancefloor
