Remains Flashcards
Rips (important)
Rips through his life… sort of inside out
(Makes a graphic and disturbing image of war, however the ‘sort of’ emphasises that it was a day to day, dull event for his standards)
Bloody
His bloody life in my bloody hands
(Conflict makes people make rash decisions, and ‘my’ shows he feels guilty for what he has done)
Armed
Probably armed, possibly not
(He is constantly trying to get reassurance his decision was the right one)
I’m my head (important)
He’s here in my head when I close my eyes
(The guilt is seeming to drive the soldier completely mad to the point of PTSD)
Tosses
“Tosses,” “carted off”
(Use of colloquial; or informal, verbs shows that these events were normal)
Drinks, drugs
The drinks and drugs won’t flush him out
(No usual techniques will rid him of the horrific image that is stuck with him)
