All clergy and royal officials had to swear an oath or allegiance to Elizabeth as the head of the church of England
The act of uniformity 1559
All clergy and churches has to wear uniform - simpler than catholic vests but different to everyday wear -
A new common English prayer book published for all clergy. The text was carefully chosen to please both Catholics and protestants.
Everyone had to go church on Sunday and other holy days or they could be fined one shilling

- anyone refused to go church reported to privy council
- no one allowed to preach w/o licence from GOV
