God’s free gift of making himself known to us and giving himself to us by gradually communicating his own mystery in deeds and words.
Divine Revelation
The gift of God’s invitation to us to know and believe in him; the power God gives us to respond to his invitation
Faith
The Law of God revealed to Moses; the first five books of the Old Testament, which are also called the Pentateuch
Torah
The Holy Spirit guiding the human writers of Sacred Scripture to faithfully and accurately communicate God’s word.
Inspiration of the Bible
A word meaning “good news”; the good news of God’s mercy and love revealed in Jesus Christ.
Gospel
Two words that mean “holy writings” the writings the Holy Spirit inspired the people of God to write and that have been collected by the Church in the Bible.
Sacred Scripture
The mystery of one God in three Persons – God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit
Holy Trinity
The announcement to the Virgin Mary by the angel Gabriel to Mary that God has chosen her to be the Mother of Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit
Annunciation
An occurence that goes beyond the laws of nature and invites us to deepen our faith in God.
Miracle
People who learn from and follow the teachings of another person.
Disciple
The Old Testament people to whom God revealed himself and with whom he made the Covenant.
Israelites
A creed or brief statement of the faith of the Church, written in the fourth century.
Nicene Creed
The work that God the Father sent Jesus, the Son of God, to do on earth with the help of the Holy Spirit.
