Renewed commitment to tradition religion as a reaction to secularization
CULTURAL TRANSMISSOIN
passing of cultural elements (material, nonmaterial, or both) from one generation to the next
McDONALDIZATION
process by which extreme efficiency and rationalization produce negative consequences in society (ex. reduced quality of products)
SOCIAL REPRODUCTION
transmission of society’s values, norms, and practives including social inequality, from one generatin to the next ex. child of wealthy parents tend to wealthy as adults
RELIGIOSITY
the extent to which a religious doctrine gets internalized and incorporated into a person life
OBSERVATIONAL STUDIES
used when it is unethical or unfeasible to manipulate a variable of interest i.e. degree of religiosity
NO MANIPULATION OF VARIABLES
RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION
describes the specific religious group to which an individual identifies, which is not synonymous with living one’s life according to principles ex I am catholic but don’t attend church
