Holy war?
The belief that using violence is justified in certain circumstances in defence of religious principles
Pacifism?
The belief that using violence to resolve conflict is morally unjustified in all circumstances
Just war?
The belief that using violence to resolve conflict is morally justified if conditions are fulfilled
Jus ad bellum?
The ‘just war’ conditions that must be fulfilled BEFORE going to war (e.g last resort)
Jus in bello?
The ‘just war’ conditions that must be fulfilled DURING war (e.g proportionality)
Jus post bellum?
The ‘just war’ conditions that must be fulfilled AFTER war has ended (e.g peace must be restored)
Righteous anger?
The use of violence in a just cause (e.g Jesus use in the temple, Matthew 21:12)
Retribution
Punishment which is to show others in society the punishment fits the crime
Reform
Punishment which can help a criminal mend there ways and return to society (rehabilitation)
Deterrence
Punishment to stop other people committing a similar crime
Protection
Punishment which protects other members of society
Redemption
this is when people look to god or Jesus to have there sin forgiven ?????????????
