What is the just war theory?

JWT: Last resort
All peaceful methods of resolution must have been attempted first

Reasons for going to war must be for protection or defence
JWT: Legitimate Authority
Person declaring war must be in position to do so
JWT: Principle discrimination
Only targeting things that relate to war effort
JWT: Guaranteed behaviour of troops
Need to be able to control troops and they must follow orders
JWT: Reasonable chance of success
Should only go to war when the intentions of the war are achievable
JWT: Proportionality
Damage cause by should not out weigh the damage caused by nit going to war ( war itself should have the best outcome)
Whats a holy war?
A war fought on behalf of religious beliefs
Define pacifism
The belief that all war and violence is wrong
Whats a conscientious objector?
A person who refuses on moral or religious grounds to serve in the armed forces
Define terrorism
An act of violence against against civilians by a group to express a political or religious belief
What is a Weapon of mass destruction?
A weapon that can be used to cause a large loss of life and environmental damage
Nuclear weapon
A weapon which causes an atomic reaction that devastates huge areas and kills lots of people
