Religious reasons for dissolution of monastries
1535- Cromwell sent out visitations telling them to find evidenced that monks and nuns were not living up to their vows
Protestant reformers
Latimer and Cranmer were spreading Protestant beliefs through preaching while Cromwell was pushing for doctrinal reform

- Refused to take the oath accepting Henrys divorce

pay off sin- only for the rich- many of the clergy spent more time serving the King than their community - no welfare
