Reliability Flashcards
How do you achieve reliability
- Test, re-test
- Same measures (tools to measure)
- Same conditions
With repeated testing, do you get:
Habituation, learning, fatigue, order effects
State what it is meant by the key term ‘relative reliability’
Relative reliability - do the individual’s maintain their position within the group
State what it is meant by the key term ‘absolute reliability’
Absolute reliability - do the dependent variables get the same results each time
State what it is meant by the key term ‘Intra Rater’
Intra rater - is a judge giving the same decision for the same actions, if not, it lacks Intra Rater reliability
State what it is meant by the key term ‘Inter Rater’
Inter Rater - if there are multiple judges and they don’t agree, then there is a lack of Inter Rater reliability
State what it is meant by the key term ‘Objectivity/Rater reliability’
Objectivity/Rater reliability - does the collection of data always come to the same result
State 3 facts about a ‘Bland-Altman plot’
- Are data points above zero - systematic error
- Is data spread evenly across mean line - random error
- Scores get worse as the results get higher
State what a Bland-Altman plot shows (3 points)
- Useful display of the relationship between two paired variables using the same scale
- Can perceive a phenomenon, but doesn’t test it
- Does not give you a probability of error on a decision about the variables as would a test
