what does the test score theory assume?

A

an individual has a true score, assuming that there is no measurement error.

Q

what are the four assumptions in Classical test Theory?

A
  1. An individual’s true score would be obtainable if there was no error in measurement.
  2. There is error in measurement, and the error is random
  3. an individual’s true score does not change with repeated application of the same test, the observed score does change.
  4. the distribution of random errors will be the same for all age groups.

Q

Name the types of reliability

A
  1. Test-retest reliability
testing the same construct at two different times, and then looking at co-efficient of stability
  2. Parallel forms reliability
testing the individual on two different forms of the same test, and then looking at the coefficient of equivalence
  3. internal consistency reliability
looks at whether the items in one test all measure the same thing
  4. Inter-rater reliability
measures how consistently two or more raters agree

looks at whether all items within a test measure the same thing

Q

what are the different types of internal consistency reliability?

A
  1. Split-half reliability
a test is split in half, total scores from each half are correlated
  2. Kuder-Richardson 20 reliability
is a measure reliability for a test with binary variables, it is used for items that have varying difficulty
  3. Cronbach’s Alpha
estimates the consitstency of responses to different scale items, is calculated by using the in inter-item variance and covariance

Q

what is the standard error of measurement?

A
