Is an extension of SET as it claims that individuals stay together because they develop a strong commitment to the relationship as a result of 3 factors.

What were the findings of Rusbult (1983) study?
- High satisfaction + investment were important in committed relationships.
- Low satisfaction, investment and high CLA important for break-up.
Describe the Le and Agnew study?
- Over 11,000 participants
- Meta-analysis of 52 studies found support for investment model across many cultures.
- Good sample size, cultural validity, shows universality of model.
Describe the Rusbult (1998) model?
Found support for model in both heterosexual and homosexual couples.
-Increases population validity.
