Meaning attributed to a place through our interaction with it.

Meaning attributed from what we have heard, seen or read about the place.
What is re-imaging ?
Trying to disassociate a place from bad excising images - it can then attract new investment, tourism etc
What is rebranding ?
The ways in which a place is redeveloped and marketed so that it gains a new identity - it may involved both re-imaging and regeneration.
What is regeneration ?
Long-term process involving redevelopment and the use of social, economic and environmental action to reverse urban decline and create sustainable communities.

£110 million funding for Plymouth waterfront, Devonport naval wall removed - war houses and flats removed, Historical landmarks left untouched.

Increased house prices due to increased investment, Some residents had to leave the area, Union street still very deprived.

Take it away from the perception of legal sex workers and marijuana, Early 2000s tourism in Amsterdam fell due to competition from other tourist destinations.

Urban Splash changed old beige frontage to colourful frontage. New cafes and community facilities built on ground floor.
