What does the locale of a place mean ?
A place that is shaped by the people, cultures and customs within it - takes into account the effect that people have on their setting.
What does the sense of a place mean ?
The subjective and emotional attachment people have to a place - it can vary when looked from another perspective.
What are the 4 categories of a place ?
Near, Far, Media, Experienced
What is a media and experienced place ?
Experienced is a place where someone has spent time in, Media place is a place where someone has only read about or seen on film.
What are endogenous factors and what do they include ?
Characteristics of the place itself ; Location, Demographic, Built environment, Socio-economic factors, Culture, Physical geography
What are exogenous factors and what do they include ?
The relationship of one place with other places and the external factors which affect this ; Diasporas, Increasing mobility of people, Newcomers arriving, Accessibility of places
What are the 2 factors that change the character of a place ?
Endogenous, Exogenous factors
What is glocalisation ?
The practice of adapting global products or services to suit local markets and conditions, while still maintaining a consistent global brand identity
What is localism ?
The belief that services should be controlled and provided within a local area for the benefit of the people in that area.
What is an example of localism ?

What is continuity ?
Aspects of places that remain despite many other changes and forces of change.
What are socio-economic characteristics ?
Occupation, Education, Income and wealth.
