* vows and prayers said to bring blessings into their married life
* lead up to wedding - announcement, reading of the ‘banns’, allows ANYONE to gives reasons as to why the marriage shouldn’t be legally allowed
Non conformist/Quaker marriage services/beliefs?
MORE FREEDOM (e.g. write their own vows) - stresses belief that the union is made between the couple and God
* Quakers - have no minister, believe God brings them together
-sit in silent worship, couple go up to say vows to congregation when they believe its right, sign Quaker marriage certificate
* everyone present signs the certificate as a witness to the marriage
