The Air Traffic Control (ATC) is an agency of the FAA whose function is to manage and control all air traffic while in flight or on the ground.

The Airlines for America (A4A) is an organization made up of all scheduled airlines in the United States and Canada. The activities include refinement of customer and cargo traffic procedures, development of improved safety and planning the airlines’ role in national defense.
Department of Transportation (DOT)
The Department of Transportation (DOT) is a U.S. governmental agency that regulates all forms of transportation in the United States.
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is responsible for the promotion, regulation, and safety of civil aviation, as well as safe and efficient use of air space which is shared by both civil and military aircraft.
Federal Air Marshall (FAM)
Federal Air Marshall (FAM) A specially trained armed law enforcement officer whose primary mission is to prevent the hostile takeover of aircraft.
Federal Flightdeck Officer (FFDO)
Federal Flightdeck Officer (FFDO) A pilot who is authorized by the Transportation Security Administration to carry a firearm and use it to defend the flightdeck against an act of air piracy or criminal violence.
International Air Transportation Association (IATA)
The International Air Transportation Association (IATA) offers worldwide guide-lines to all carriers on fare construction and ticketing.
International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)
International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) An organization developed as a means to secure international co-operation and highest possible degree of uniformity in regulations, standards, procedures, and organization regarding civil aviation matters.
Law Enforcement Officer (LEO)
Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) An individual authorized to carry a weapon on an airplane. An LEO is most commonly seen when transporting a low risk prisoner.
National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB)
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is an independent federal agency that serves as the overseer of U.S. transportation. Its’ responsibilities cover marine, railroad, highway, pipeline, and civil aviation.
Transportation Security Administration (TSA)
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is a Government Agency that oversees Civil Aviation Security.
