Regulations & Publications Flashcards
What are your semi annual dual seat FAC 1 aircraft hour requirements?
70 hours, of which 15 must be flown in the opposite crew station.
How many hours can the simulator be applied to your semi annual requirement in the aircraft?
Up to 12 hours
What are your simulator semi annual single seat hour requirements?
15 hours in the designated crew station
What are your simulator semi annual dual seat hour requirements?
15 hours, of which 4.5 must be flown in each crew station
What are your semi annual NVD hour requirements?
9 hours, of which 3 hours must be done on each device. (NVS and NVG)
What are your semi annual hood/weather hour requirements?
That is determined by the commander, and may be done in either the aircraft or simulator.
What are your annual task and iteration requirements?
At least one iteration of each task must be performed in each mode. However, if task is performed at night that may be counted as a day task as well.
What is your requirement to stay NVG current?
At least a 1 hr flight every 60 days while wearing NVG’s
What is your requirement to stay NVS current?
At least a 1 hour flight every 60 days, this can be done in either the aircraft or simulator. But you can only reset once in the simulator.
In regard to weight and balance, what is the Apache and why?
It is a Class 2, because the weight and CG limits can readily be exceeded and therefore require a high degree of control
Why is the date important on a 365-4?
The 365-4 must be checked for accuracy every 90 days, and reviewed every 12 months
When does the aircraft need to be re weighed?
- After a major overhaul or airframe repair
- Modification of more than 1% of the basic weight are made
- Mods or parts replacement that do not allow for an accurate weight adjustment e.g. Painting
- At least once every two years for Class 2 aircraft
- Anytime the weight and balance records are suspected to be in error
What is the PC’s responsibility in regard to weight and balance?
To ensure the 365-4 on board the aircraft, that it’s accurate, and that the aircraft will remain within weight and CG limits through out the flight
What are your planned fuels reserves for VFR and IFR flights?
VFR - 20 minutes at cruise
IFR - 30 minutes at cruise
For a VFR flight, the predominant weather must be above VFR minimums for how long?
ETA through 1 hour after ETA
According to 95-1 what is the helicopter SVFR minima?
1/2 mile clear of clouds, unless a higher minima is required at the airfield
For an IFR flight, what must the predominant weather be at the destination?
It must be forecast to be above the minimums required for the approach to be flown at ETA through 1 hour after ETA
How much can helicopter pilots reduce instrument approach category A visibility minimums by?
By 50%, but no less than 1/4 mile or the metric equivalent
When do you need to plan for an alternate airfield when filing an IFR flight plan?
- Radar is required for the approach
- Navaids are unmonitored
- Predominant weather at ETA through 1 hour is below 400 & 1 above the planned approach minimums
An airfield cannot be used as an IFR alternate if?
- Radar is required for the approach
- If N/A is shown on the approach in the FLIP
- Navaids are not monitored
- If class B, C, D, or E airspace to the surface does not exist.
- If GPS is required for the approach
What are the PC’s responsibilities regarding the 365-4?
- Ensure the 365-4 computations are accurate
2. Ensure the 365-4 is onboard the aircraft and that the CG will remain within limits the entire flight
What are the weather minimums for Class A airspace?
None, Class A is IFR only
What are the weather minimums for Class B airspace?
3 miles vis, clear of clouds
What are the weather minimums for Class C, D, and E below 10,000 MSL airspace?
3 miles vis,
500’ below
1000’ above
2000’ horizontal
What are the day and night weather minimums for Class G airspace below 1200’ AGL?
Day 1/2 mile, clear of clouds
Night 1 mile, clear of clouds
How long can you fly VFR over the top?
30 minutes
What restrictions do you have when over flying a national security area?
You must be higher than 2000’ AGL
What lights must be on when the engines are running?
Anti-collision lights, unless vertigo or other hazards may occur
What lights must be on between official sunset/sunrise to include the APU?
Position lights
What are you not allowed to do with Army aircraft?
Army aircraft shall not be used for
Personal use
To/from domicile
To obtain FAA rating
Where can you find information about crew coordination?
Chapter 6 of the ATM
Can you ever deviate from provisions of 95-1?
Yes, only during emergencies.
After a deviation occurs, you must report it to the FAA within 24 hours
What are your semi annual single seat FAC 1 hour requirements in the aircraft?
70 hours, of which 63 must be flown in the designated crew station
