Muzzles on Dogs
- Right size and fit for each dog
- Doesnt allow cuts, swellings or abrasions
- Allow dog to open mouth for normal breathing, panting, drinking and vomiting
Dry and Shaded Shelter
Must have access to appropriate shelter
Check on dog regularly
Access shelter at any time that is clean, dry, shaded and ventilated but not draughty- protect from extremes of heat and cold
Big enough to stand, turn, lie in natural position
Constant access to water
Faeces and urine dont accumulate
Dogs left in Vehicles
Should not seek shade or excessively pant, drool or hyperventilate
Dogs on moving vehicles
Secure in cage or crate Tie up safely Leash must - allow stand and lie in natural position - prevent legs over side of vehicle
Collars and Tethers
Collars
- Right size and fit
- Allow normal breathing panting and drinking
- Not tight or heavy to cause skin abrasions, cuts or swelling
- Not loose to cause injury- e.g. leg caught in collar
Tethers
- Appropriate length and material to allow normal breathing, panting and drinking
- Doesnt let dog get caught up on nearby objects and injured
