Regulation of the Cardiac Output Flashcards
Describe First Degree Heart block
There is an AV block - AV conduction is lengthened and there is an extended PR interval.
Describe Second Degree Heart block
PQ interval is longer and QRS complex sometimes does not follow P wave
Describe Third Degree Heart block
Atria and ventricles are depolarising independently
What is cardiac output dependent on?
Heart rate and Systolic Volume
What is systolic volume dependent on?
End diastolic volume and end systolic volume
What is end diastolic volume?
The volume of heart within the ventricles before contraction
What is end systolic volume?
The volume of blood that remains in the heart after ejection
What are positive inotropic agents?
Increase contractility
What are negative inotropic agents?
Decrease contractility
