Regions And Datacentres Flashcards
Learn about Regions and Locations and how resources are hosted in Azure.
What is a region?
A region represents a location with one or more data centres in close proximity. This provides services to places close by.
What is the benefit for using a region you are close to?
Customer latency and faster usage or services
Describe Region pairs.
Each region is paired with another region in the same geography. This allows for replication of resources to have backups and prevent outages in one region from affecting your resources.
What are availability zones?
They are specific locations within a region that contain multiple data centers. This allows your resources to be accessed even if one of the data centres in that zone go down because another one can pick it up.
TRUE OR FALSE: Resources must be in the same region to be in the same resource group.
FALSE
Resources can be hosted in all different regions and still be stored in the same resource group.
How far apart are region pairs normally?
300 miles
