What is a regional grouping?
Supranational associations of states around a particular region (like the EU). These states have common grounds of understanding and perspectives around rules and regulations to be followed in regards to one another.
What common areas of law affect relationships within the EU?
Trade, agriculture, customs control, labour, economy, migration and sanctions.
What are the benefits of beloning to the EU?
Has the world’s largest market of 500 million consumers, one trading bloc, food and environmental regulations, free movement across borders of citizens, within the EU.
What is the EU supremacy law?
A principle that when there is conflict between EU law and law of the state, EU law is prevails.

Membership of the union, the finances of the union, harmonisation in the field of law and justice, provision in the field of home affairs, common forgeign policy, defense and security policy and citizenship. (8)
What happens when a member state defies EU supremacy law?
The European Commision refers the state(s) to the Court of Justice of the EU. The first judgement call for the states to comply to the law and their are two penalties. Lump sums and daily fines.
Explain the process of voting right suspension
If a member state has violated common values or laws of the EU, a vote is conducted to determine wether they keep their right to vote in the EU. However, this result requires unanimity.
What is the European Union?
Political and economic union of 27 countries within Europe. Member states have transferred some of their sovereignty to the EU.
What are the 7 institutions of the EU?
the European Council, the Council of the EU, the European Commission, the EU Court of Justice, the European Central Bank, the Court of Auditors and the European Parliament.
What does the EU do?
Promote economic intergration, negotiate trade agreements, let go of any tarrifs or duties so trade withing member states is free and protect human rights.
Who controls the EU?
The EU has no clear leader. However the institutions within the EU have their own leaders. Most notably the heads of the European Council, European Commision and European Parliment. Head of European Commision acting as the figurehead.
