How and why did Protestantism come to be?
Martin Luther did not like the idea of indulgences, and he nailed the 95 theses to the wall, which criticized the indulgences. People started to see the flaws of the church and became more open to new ideas.

Lutherans emphasized salvation by faith alone, and got their word out by preaching. Calvinism was the cornerstone of theology, and said that god possessed all power and knowledge .
