- The Adams Onis treaty gave us FLorida in 1819.

Mexican war/ cessision
- War stated because U.AS and MExico were fighting over the southern border of Texas.
- War ended with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidlago, signed in 1848
- The treaty gave U.s pasts of california and New Mexico, and Utah, nevada, and colorado
- the rio grande rive became the new border
- U.s Gov paid $15 million for the land

- President Polk wanted to bring in Oregon territory into the U.S.
- Britain and U.S fought over the border
- Britain and U.S signed a treaty the border on 1846, which gave the u.S land south of the 49th parallel.

Gadsden Purchaser
- In 1853 U.S ended expansion in the South West by Gadsden purchase.
- U.S bought a strip of land from Mexico
- The land was brought to make a railroad line to connect the South to the Pacific Ocean
- U.S agreed to pay $10 million for the stip of land, that was almost as big as Pennsylvania
