  • fear reduces our sense of agency and control, which has two effects
    1. leads us to cling to our worldviews and assert our agency
    2. makes us more vulnerable to manipulation and misinformation and we try to make a sense of the world and find safety/security
      • people who don’t have a strong worldview are more vulnerable to manipulation
      • increase in authoritarian and conservative attitudes
