What is refeeding syndrome?
A
It is when malnutrious pt receives too much nutrients in a short amount of time causing glucose and electrolytes to move from blood into cells too fast. This causes hypophophatemia, hypomagnesium, hypokalemia

What are sx of refeeding syndrome?
A
Cardiac dysrhythmias, neurological disturbance(i.e parenthesis), respiratory arrest, fluid retention
hypophophatemia, normal range is 2.5-4.5
- muscle and neurological weakness
- disruption of red blood cells and muscles because lack of ATP
