reductionism vs holism Flashcards
what is reductionism?
Reductionism is the extent to which a study or theory breaks down human behaviour into smaller parts to be studied. Then the findings from studying the ‘parts’ are put together to try to make sense of the ‘whole’.
what is holism?
The alternative approach to reductionism is holism, this is when something is studied as a whole, considering the interactions between the units, such as between other individuals.
