5 problems faced by LEDCs before 2000

8 goals devised by the UN to help development in LEDCs from 2000-2015
To ensure consistency of the progress on each of these goals, each target was monitored by a series of indicators

Through aid DONATED BY MEDCs to the world bank and administered by the development assistance committee (DAC)
NON GOVERNMENTAL ORGANISATIONS (NGO) such as Oxfam and private donations e.g the Bill Gate’s Foundation
DEBT RELIEF PROGRAMMES were to be extended in the hope that developing countries could contribute in part towards their own development
What made MDGs different from other development initiatives
The goals worked within the context of the UN definition of development, which sees economic development as a means to provide social development
