Stroebe found exchange students not integrating because of stereotypes, USA studies suggest minorities are segregated, minorities rebel- taking education seriously becomes a ‘white’ stereotype. Sometimes people are labelled by own ethnic group if they do a stereotypically different thing.

Aronson jigsaw classroom- education in western societies= competitive, difficult to foster education. Influenced by cognitive dissonance, we need to reduce it. Collaborative work in groups, deliberately selected. Evidence that prejudice is reduced and beneficial for self-esteem.
