Forest is protected so remains habitat for species - biodiversity isn’t lost.
What are the disadvantages of REDD?
May continue in another area.
It’s possible to cut down rainforests, but still receive the rewards if they are replaced with other types of forest. (Palm oil plantation which is low in biodiversity)
Prevents activities and local activities that depend on it for income.

Helps different sectors work together.
What are the disadvantages of CITES?
