Loss of Developmental Skills
Red Flag: Vision
Poor Vision Development
Refer to Opthtalmology
Red Flag: Hearing
Hearing Loss (simultaneous referral for Audiology and ENT)
Red Flag: Muscle Tone
Persistent low muscle tone / floppiness
genetic or hypoglycaemia
Red Flag: Speech
If no speech by 18 months, refer for urgent hearing test and maybe developmental paediatritian.
What to these red flags suggest?:
Asymmetry / Increased Muscle Tone (2)
May be a mechanical issue (Developmental Dysplasia of Hip)
Refer to neurologist.
Red Flag: No Walking
If not walking before 18 months, or persistent toe walking: consider flat feet.
Red Flag: Occipital Circumference (OCF)
OFC > 99.6th Centile
OFC < 0.4th Centile
Or if disproportionate to parental OFC
Could be indicative of developmental disorder?
