Management of carotid cavernous fistula

A

Conservative: stop smoking, control thyroid state
▪ Lubricants and oral NSAIDs(to relieve periocular pain)
▪ Sleep with head elevated

If there is compressive optic neuropathy and severe proptosis
with exposure:
▪ Systemic steroids oral or IV
▪ Orbital radiation
▪ Surgery: Orbital decompression/Squint surgery after orbital
decompression/Lid retraction surgery after squint surgery
