A
  • Ensured there was military support for a campaign.
  • Wealthy men had to provide armour, sword, shield, horse, lance and dagger.
  • Poor men had to bring at least a bow, 24 arrows a sword and dagger.
  • These men had to serve for at least 40 days and were paid.
