Define the term recruitment
The process or recruiting an individual for a role either from inside the organisation i.e. internal recruitment or outside the organisation i.e. external recruitment
What are the 3 different types of employee?
Full time employee i.e. works a standard 37.5hr week e.g.Policeman;
Part time employee, works less than a standard 37.5 hour week e.g. Doctors receptionist
Temporary employee works for a few weeks on a flexible basis e.g. Apple pickers
How do you appoint the right people for the job available
- First you decide on what the job specification is
- Then you decide what competencies an employee needs
- Then you advertise for the role
- Then you interview the candidates and select one
What is training
The process by which new employees are given the information they need to start their new job
What is the difference between internal and external recruitment
Internal recruitment
The owner or manager announces the job availability
Employees are invited to apply
Adverts are placed on notice boards and the intranet
External recruitment
Jobs are Advertised on job sites on the internet, with recruitment agencies, with job centres, in the newspapers
What is the selection process for a candidate

Conduct Competency based interview
Conduct Psychometric tests
Conduct Assessment centre
