A
  • Bind to dopamin, noradrenaline and serotonin
  • Taken up into neurone
  • More neurotransmitte in neurone
  • Causes increase release of dopamine and noradrenaline

  • Seizures
  • Coma
  • Tachy and hypertension
  • Palpitations
  • Flushed facial skin
  • Hyperreflexia

What is the management of amphetamine overdose?

A
  • Activated charcoal (within 1 hour)
  • Oral sedation if agitated
  • Sodium bicarbonate if hyperthermia
  • Treat arrhythmia e.g. SVT
