National Stamping Act
Issued standards for frame markings containing any part of precious metal
10K / 10 Kt Gold 14K / 14Kt. Gold
Indicates that the entire article is made of this amount of gold If less than 10K is used, it cannot be represented as gold
Minimum amount of gold needed to be labeled as gold
More than 10K must be present
10K gold filled

Rolled Gold
When the total weight is below 1/20th, the karate mark must be preceded by the fraction denoting the percentage of gold by weight

Gold Electroplate
A thin covering applied electrolytically CANNOT have a karat mark
