Q

How do you read a -23.00 Rx on the lensometer?

A
  1. Grab trial lenses from the Dr. 2. Maybe +5.00 to bring it down 3. Now the lens should read at -18.00

Q

Spectrometer

A

Measures the transmission of light through the lens What you see is how much is getting through 1= 99% light is not getting through 100= 100% light is getting through

3 Different Spectrometers

A

BPI UV only Spectrum Scan UV or Visible Light Universal Briot 7 boxes lit means 35% is getting through Not lit x 5 = Absorbed % If someone is picky, hide the sample

Q

Blocker Instructions

A
  1. Set your Total Inset R — R = In L — L = In 2. Seg Drop/ Raise Go above or below 3. Center the Seg FT 28 center between 28s FT 35 center between 35s 4. Verify Distance Decentration -when seg is centered, then check Decentration, can’t change, have to surface again

Q

Bifocal Segment

A

Usually centered correctly Can live with 0.5 mm off Making them both off is worse In lab on Near PD is checked With stock lenses impossible to get PDs right

Q

How do you find the inset on an Executive Bifocal?

A
  1. Draw a straight line 2. Look thru Executive lens 3. When it straightens, this point is the OC 4. Compare to Distance OC 5. This gives you the Inset
17
Q

Progressive Markings

A
  1. Water markings are exactly 34 mm apart 2. Two digits show ADD power 3. All have 2.5 Inset 4. Minimum Fitting height of 22mm
18
Q

If the Rx is weak and there is prism, the Decentration is gonna be really large

A

Get prism surfaced, ground in Choose higher RX if you can
