Lab Requirements Flashcards
Diamond hand stone cuts…
Faster
3 different pattern makers
Weco 1st generation Kapper $40kCobern Gives 3D image where to put bevel Cut, bevel, polish, groove Edgemaster $4k More simple
Which direction do you move for OD to get BO?
Left on the reticle
What do prism rings do? What increments fo they come in?
Move the target 3, 6, 9
How do you read a -23.00 Rx on the lensometer?
- Grab trial lenses from the Dr. 2. Maybe +5.00 to bring it down 3. Now the lens should read at -18.00
Tolerance for Resultant Prisms
0.1 Prism Diopter 1 Degree Axis
Spectrometer
Measures the transmission of light through the lens What you see is how much is getting through 1= 99% light is not getting through 100= 100% light is getting through
3 Different Spectrometers
BPI UV only Spectrum Scan UV or Visible Light Universal Briot 7 boxes lit means 35% is getting through Not lit x 5 = Absorbed % If someone is picky, hide the sample
Distance Decentration
FPD - PPD
Reading Decentration (Inset)
Distance PPD - Reading PPD
Total Inset
Distance Decentration + Reading Decentration
BTS
BTS is where OC is located on Bifocal, can be different
Calculate BTS
B divided in half Half the B minus the seg height
Blocker Instructions
- Set your Total Inset R — R = In L — L = In 2. Seg Drop/ Raise Go above or below 3. Center the Seg FT 28 center between 28s FT 35 center between 35s 4. Verify Distance Decentration -when seg is centered, then check Decentration, can’t change, have to surface again
Bifocal Segment
Usually centered correctly Can live with 0.5 mm off Making them both off is worse In lab on Near PD is checked With stock lenses impossible to get PDs right
