Q

What are the two stages of oxygen transport?

A
  1. At the lungs, haemoglobin becomes saturated with oxygen and forms oxyhaemoglobin
  2. At the muscle site, the reaction is reversible. Oxygen dissociates from haemoglobin at the muscle site

A
  • Located in muscle cells only
  • Role is to store oxygen, ready for exercise
