Receptor Types Flashcards
mAChRs Locations
Parasympathetic: eye, heart, lungs, bladder, GI tract, reproductive organs
Sympathetic: skin
Alpha 1 ARs Locations
Sympathetic: eye, blood vessels, bladder, prostate, penis
Beta 1 AR Locations
Sympathetic: heart and kidneys
Beta 2 AR Locations
Sympathetic: lungs, liver, skeletal muscle, uterus, arterioles
Activation of nicotinicN
1) activation of post ganglionic neurons
2) release of epinephrine
Activation of nicotinicM
1) contraction of skeletal muscle
Activation of mAChRs
1) eye -> miosis (contract ciliary and iris sphincter muscles)
2) heart -> decrease HR
3) lung -> increased secretions and bronchoconstriction
4) bladder -> increased voiding
5) GI -> increased salivation, secretion, motility, defecation
6) sex -> erection
7) sweat glands -> increased sweating
8) dilation of blood vessels
Activation of alpha 1 ARs
1) eyes -> mydriasis (pupil dilation)
2) arterioles-> increased vasoconstriction
3) bladder -> decreased voiding (contract tricorne & sphincter)
4) penis -> ejaculation
Activation of Beta 1 ARs
1)heart -> increased HR, force of contraction and AV conduction velocity
2) kidney -> increased renin release -» increased BP
Activation of Beta 2 ARs
1) arterioles (heart, lung, skeletal muscle) -> vasodilation
2) bronchi -> bronchodilation
3) uterus -> relaxation
4) liver -> promotes glycogenlysis
5) skeletal muscle -> increased contraction
Activation of alpha 2 ARs
1) presynaptic neurons of NE-releasing cells -> decreased NE release (feedback inhibition)
