Q

What are the 2 types of Thermoreceptors? Where are they found?

A
  1. Cold (10-40C) = in superficial dermis.

2. Heat (32-48C) = in deeper dermis.

Q

What are Nociceptors?

A

Respond to:

  • Pinching
  • Inflammatory chemicals from damaged tissue
  • Temperature changes outside the range of Thermoreceptors.
  • Capsaicin

Q

What are Encapsulated receptors?

A

All respond as mechanoreceptors

i. e.
- Meissner’s Corpuscle: discriminative touch

  • Pacinian Corpuscle: deep pressure & vibration
  • Ruffini endings: deep continuous pressure
  • Muscle spindles: muscle stretch
  • Golgi tendon organs: muscle load
  • joint kinesthetic receptors: stretch in synovial joint capsule.
