Q

“ I saw some bad reviews “

A

Now, we aren’t perfect, no one is, but we do right by our customers and rectify any issues immediately. We make every effort to make your transition to cleaner and cheaper power as seamless as possible by providing a white glove service. Not to mention every company you’ve done anything with has bad reviews. Have you looked up your own utility company? What kind of car do you drive? I can guarantee that it has a RECALL which compromises the safety of your vehicle. What kind of phone do you use? I know my Samsung was catching fire, but I still use it. The fact of the matter is that no matter how perfect of a job we do someone will still complain and we don’t even own the panels and your monthly bill isn’t even paid to us.

A

Immediately ask what reason would cause them to want to cancel? Uncover and address objections.

Q

I need to think about it

A

I completely understand that and when I say I need to think about it I feel as though there could be an unhappy ending, but with solar there are no unhappy endings. You are just swapping the higher rate you pay to your utility provider for a lower rate from your very own solar array. Make sense? Or was there something else?

Q

Solar panels are ugly

A

Solar is the future, but don’t get me wrong there are still people out there who are against green energy or don’t like the way the panels look and I’d like to remind those people that on their roof they currently have an asphalt shingle and asphalt isn’t pretty. Not to mention 100 years ago everyone swore by asbestos siding and today some people still do even though it has been proven to cause cancer and some states legally obligate you to remove it.

Q

Wil my homeowners insurance go up ?

A

Lease/PPA- No, the system is fully monitored and maintained by the finance partner.

Loan- Most rooftop solar energy systems are covered by standard homeowners policies, which does not change your insurance plan. However, you may need to increase the amount of coverage on your home to account for the cost of the system which can then raise your premium. In all of my years of solar worst case I have only seen the monthly payment increase a few dollars.

Q

What if there’s a fire?

A

God forbid if there is a fire your system will not impede the firefighters ability to save your family’s home. Per fire code/township code there is a solar emergency disconnect switch installed next to your electric meter. It is clearly marked. The firefighters will simply turn the switch into the off position and fight the fire like they would any other home.

Q

My husbad or wife doesnt want it

A

If this solar system is going to save you tens of thousands over the coming years then what is it that he/she would be opposed to? If your job offered you a raise of $10,000 this year would you call your wife first and ask? Or would you accept it and go home to celebrate the good news?

Q

My son/daughter said they dont want me to make the switch to solar panel

A

Let me ask you a question. Do your children pay for your electric bills? I’m sure you’ve worked hard your whole life to have the American dream. If you don’t mind me asking, are you retired? On a fixed budget? Aren’t we all nowadays? Everyone should be watching what they spend. Solar is a way to save money from day one and protect yourself from your payment rising. Why would your children not want you to save money? Now, we both know solar is the right move for you, but maybe I could explain to you how it works better so you could explain it better to them?

Q

“ 25 years is too long/ not enough saving/ why an escalator?”

A

Imagine if you could have locked in gas prices 25 years ago. What would we be paying per gallon? Solar is providing exactly that advantage with electricity prices today. The DOE (Department of energy) shows NJ has an average electric increase of 5% annually. Now, whether you were a direct victim of Hurricane Sandy or not, every New Jersey resident was affected by it. Think of all the damage done. Who do you think pays for that?

Of course we do! As a matter of fact, the utility companies have lobbied for 4 billion dollars to the BPU (Board of Public utility). Now, the BPU knew that if they funded the entire 4 Billion, our rates would have doubled overnight, like what happened in Massachusetts last year. So, they approved a 1 billion dollar band-aid and promised about 3 billion over the next 8 years, effectively, approving a 9.2% rate hike annually over that time aside from standard increases.

Aside from a disaster just look around at our poor infrastructure. We have poles holding up poles for support which the utility company has to fix yearly at union wages. Electric rates across the country are rising, look at Massachusetts or New York which are already at 24-25 cents, while California goes as high as 41 cents. Again, we can’t forget the time value of money. What can you buy for a dollar today? What could you buy for a dollar 25 years ago? Exactly! Now your rate increases at a low fixed rate of 2.9% so, for example if your bill is $100 it will go up $3 a year and it wouldn’t be till year 15 or 16 that your solar rate would equal the rate that you could pay today. I’m sure you’d agree that in another 25 years your utility rates will have more than doubled, right? Solar puts the ball back in your court. It’s never the wrong time to do the right thing.

Q

What happends when i move ?

A

Lease/PPA - the lease or PPA is fully assumable. The new homeowner will just need to fill out a simple form taking over the remaining low monthly payments. It’s actually easier than transferring over the utility and you have guaranteed their savings for the future.

Loan - If you own the system you will simply apply the remaining solar cost of the system to the listing price of the home. It’s like purchasing a home with a Ferrari in the driveway. They will have no electric payment. How amazing is that! And the best part is you’ve taken care of everything for them already, not to mention you could still keep those renewable energy credits even after you sell your home if you do.

Q

Will my property taxes increase?

A

Great question! Solar property tax exemptions give homeowners the right to remove the added value of a solar panel system from the evaluation of their home for tax purposes. That means that even while the value of your home increases due to a solar system your property taxes will still reflect the per-solar value of your home. (which is almost always lower)

Q

Is this a risk for my roof ? Leaks ?

A

Now, we aren’t perfect, no one is, but we do right by our customers and rectify any issues immediately. In fact, we have NEVER had a leak in company history. Our racking system is lag bolted to the rafters, your rafters are the strongest point on any roof, also ,I’m sure you know roof shingles aren’t waterproof themselves, but they are laid overlapping for water to run down them to your gutters. We then use a special flashing that is tucked underneath the overlying shingles, continuing the shingle pattern and allowing water to run right over top of them. Lastly, we use a
silicone based sealant to prevent any water penetration. The racking, paneling and wiring is then inspected again by the Project Manager assigned to your job “But wait there’s more” And to top it all off you have an additional warranty from us for the roof up to 5 years after installation. We make every effort to make your transition to cleaner and cheaper power as seamless as possible.

Q

Not a good time maybe next year

A

It’s never the wrong time to do the right thing! The best time to go solar is yesterday. The Federal and state incentives are constantly changing, some programs are already done and even more are going away. Additionally, with the large surge of people switching to solar the utility companies only allow a certain allotment of residents in any area to switch so I know as of right now we can offer you these savings through solar, but tomorrow is not guaranteed and if the utility companies tell us we can’t then there is nothing anyone can do to help you.

Not worth the headache

A

That’s weird, I see no headaches here included with your savings. We take care of everything from A-Z. Vision Solar makes your transition to solar seamless. We handle the site assessment, system design, apply for all permits and approvals, installation and township inspections. You simply swap your higher bill for a lower bill with solar. Make sense? Just sit back and enjoy the savings..

Q

I am too old to make the switch to solar panels

A

It’s never the wrong time to do the right thing. People are living well into their 100’s. Not to mention you’ve come a long way in this process already. You’ve worked hard to buy your home, you requested the information on solar, but then the hardest part is being qualified for solar. They’re 6 qualifying criteria in order to get approved. Those are: the condition of your roof, the direction of the roof relative to the sun, your credit, the usage, the shading and our ability to interconnect to the grid. In fact, 2 out of every 3 homes that we are in don’t even qualify. Not to mention the system is an investment into your home for years to come and still will be for whoever you leave it to.

Q

Technology will change the current panels will be obsolete

A

Looks like we have you at 100% offset. Solar panels have been around since the 1950’s. The technology is the same. The only real change is they have gotten more efficient and slightly smaller. The system we have designed for you is going to supply the energy you need for the rest of your life.

Q

I want a battery backup

A

The technology for the battery back up isn’t quite there yet. You can buy one for the system yourself but they are upwards of $10,000-$15,000 and at this point are obsolete. The electricity you generate is stored in the grid and you take it back as you need. If a power outage is your concern you can buy one for much less money. Again I just wouldn’t advise it but it’s still up to you.
